Parsell Funeral Homes Displays 26 Angels to Honor Newtown Shooting Victims

LEWES, Del. – Parsell Funeral Homes is displaying 26 wooden angels to pay tribute to 26 victims of the Newtown, Conn., mass shootings on Dec. 14. With the help of local contractor AllServe Enterprises LLC, Parsell set up the wooden angels along Kings Highway in front of its building. Additionally, the company made a donation to the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association, which is funding the funeral needs of the victims’ families.

“We wanted to defray funeral expenses incurred by these Newtown families,” said Andrew Parsell, licensed funeral director at Parsell Funeral Homes. “If they can worry less about funeral costs, hopefully, they can focus more on getting through this most difficult time.”

The Parsell staff was deeply affected by the shootings. Debra Queitsch, a Parsell staff member, personally knew7-year-old Josephine “Joey” Grace Gay, who was among those who was killed. The tragic loss of young life hits home for Parsell employees, who have extensive firsthand experience working with families who have lost children.

For those who would like to assist these Newtown families, the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association has established an account through Liberty Bank. Contributions can be sent to: CFDA Newtown Support Fund, c/o Liberty Bank, 171 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, CT 06109, Attn: Ben Floren, Liberty Bank.
