FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Frank Kaiser, the president and CEO of Eagle’s Wings Air, the nation’s leading provider of logistics services to North American funeral homes and shipping services, has issued the following statement regarding the ongoing issue of determining a final resting place for the remains of Tamerlan Tsarnaev:
As a logistics company serving funeral homes nationwide, we’ve been watching closely this unfortunate series of events unfold. We recognize the challenges faced by Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors of Worcester, Mass., the funeral home where the remains of Tamerlan Tsarnaev currently reside, and its funeral director, Mr. Peter Stefan, in finding a final resting place for the remains of Tamerlan Tsarnaev. At the same time, we empathize with the residents of Cambridge and surrounding communities and their objections to having Tsarnaev’s final resting place located near them. Many people in these communities – and throughout the country – believe the best solution is for Tsarnaev’s remains to be transported out of the country and back to his native Russia.
Today, as a show of support for Mr. Stefan and his funeral home, the people of Cambridge and surrounding communities, and all affected by this tragedy, we are offering to facilitate the air transportation of the deceased’s remains out of the United States on an international commercial flight at no charge to the funeral home, the city of Cambridge or any taxpayers. Because we believe that no U.S. flag carrier will be permitted to transport the remains, we will work with an international carrier to facilitate this process.
Again, we offer to do so out of our support of the funeral home, the families of the greater Boston area and all those affected by this tragedy.
