MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Mike Carter, president of Lynch Supply & Heartland Casket Co., was recently been honored by the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association executive board, board of governors and past presidents, according to a news release.
Carter was the recipient of the “OFDA Stewardship Award,” the association’s highest honor. The award is presented for recognition and acknowledgement for professionalism, compassion and devotion to the funeral directors and funeral establishments of Oklahoma.
OFDA president Bill Marshall, Alva, Okla., made the presentation at the recent OFDA Convention held at Hard Rock Hotel and Convention Center in Tulsa, Okla.
“I was caught completely by surprise. My wife Cathy and daughter, Megan, were sworn to secrecy by my friends at the OFDA and Jay Baines, executive director. I couldn’t hold back the tears. To be recognized like this was simply beyond words” Carter said.
Carter has been serving funeral and cemetery professionals for more than 34 years. He is a former board member of the CFSAA, served two terms as president of the Oklahoma Funeral Supply Sales Club, is a past president and board member of the Kansas Funeral Supply Sales Club and has served for a number of years as secretary/treasurer of the Oklahoma Funeral Supply Sales Club.
“To have received this honor, makes all my hard work even more meaningful,” Carter said. “I love what I do and funeral professionals have always been my best friends.”
Lynch Supply Co. has been a supplier to the funeral and cemetery professions since 1932. Heartland Casket Co. has been a full-line regional casket distributor since 1996.
