Prolific Matthews Gibraltar Mausoleum Architect Dies

PITTSBURGH – Long-term Matthews’ architect, Larry Bruce Justice, passed away Aug. 17 at Kindred Transitional Care in Greenwood, Ind. He was 61 years old.

A resident of Sewickley, Pa., Justice designed mausoleums for Matthews’ Gibraltar Mausoleum Construction Co., located in Pittsburgh, for the past 14 years. Prior to working for Gibraltar, Justice worked for Mausoleum Constructors of America and Mausoleum Builders, Inc., based in Georgia. A graduate of the Ball State School of Architecture, nationally Justice designed more than 1,000 mausoleums over the course of a career that spanned three decades.

Some of Justice's’s more recent mausoleums include: the Chapel at Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh; Texas Liberty at Memorial Oaks in Houston, Texas; Beinhauer’s Chapel at Woodruff Memorial Park in Canonsburg, Pa.; Mother of Mercy Mausoleum at St. Vincent Cemetery in Latrobe, Pa.; the Chapel at Our Lady of Hope in Tarentum, Pa., for the Diocese of Pittsburgh; Grandview Section 17 Buildings and Garden of Chimes 4 for Inglewood Cemetery in California; and the Sokoloff Family Mausoleum for Mount Sinai Cemetery in Los Angeles.
