Anthony Kaniuk has been elected president of the International Memorialization and Supplier Association.
He follows Fred Miller, owner of Memorial Business Systems, whose two-year term concluded in April. Miller will continue to serve IMSA as immediate past president.
Kaniuk brings with him exceptional industry experience, having recently accepted the position of senior business development executive with the National Funeral Directors Association. Previously, he had been senior account executive with Kates-Boylston Publications, publishers of American Funeral Director and American Cemetery magazines.
Kaniuk has served on the IMSA board of directors since 2009.
"I'm honored to be stepping up to the helm of this great organization. I’m acutely aware of the challenges and opportunities that supplier members are facing," Kaniuk said. "Between evolving consumer needs, a tightening economy and ever-changing government involvement, it's never been more important for this association to thrive and be of service to its members."
Among the new initiatives Kaniuk is proposing during the course of his presidency are the creation of a new Vision Statement; a major overhaul of the association website; expansion of IMSA's free expert consultation program; new webinars on topics such as marketing, finances and legal issues; and additional member discounts for booth fabrication, credit card transactions and exhibitor fees at state and other association conventions.
IMSA, whose members include the most well-recognized names in memorialization products and services, including Batesville, Wilbert, Matthews, The Dodge Company, LA ads, MBS and Kates-Boylston, serves as a liaison between its supplier members and major trade associations to assure maximum trade show visibility. Additionally, it provides educational and networking opportunities to its members with the idea that a strong funeral industry requires a healthy and ever-growing source of products, supplies and services.
"I'm looking forward to serving as IMSA president," Kaniuk added. "We're about to launch a number of important new programs and position the association as a significant resource our members and the funeral industry."
