Veterans Funeral Care Names National Executive of the Year and President's Award Winners

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Veterans Funeral Care has announced the 2013 VFC Executive of the Year and President's Award recipients. Thee award winners are selected based on their firm’s commitment, dedication and unique activities in service to their veteran and retired military community, according to a news release

2013 VFC Executive of the Year

This year's national award winner is Frankie Stewart, Stewart Funeral Homes, Lawrenceville, Georgia. Stewart's dedication to veterans goes above and beyond. He has consistently used his time and influence to work for the cause of veterans in his community. Highlights of his award winning year was participation in Veterans Funeral Care’s “Operation Toy Soldier” campaign, which provides Christmas gifts for the children of local deployed soldiers, working with Dobbins AFB to provide back-to- school supplies and participating in our “Retire your Flag with Honor” program.

Stewart Funeral Homes also hosted the “Lima Company Memorial” twice as the response was so good. The memorial celebrates 22 Marines and one Navy corpsman who died in Iraq in 2005.

2013 President's Award

The President's Award is presented to the funeral home whose staff has collectively engaged their veteran community. This year’s award went to Cremation & Funeral Care by Danielle Andy Belusko in McMurray, Pennsylvania. Staff members include Danielle Andy Belusko, Phylicia Kesterson, Stephanie Ritter, Darla Tripoli and Jeff Ross. The firm collected more than 4,000 toys for the “Operation Toy Soldier” campaign, put a wreath on every grave at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, hosted a citywide flag dedication ceremony that included former Central Command General John Abizaid as the Keynote speaker and hosted the “Lima Company Memorial” a nationally touring Iraqi Freedom War Memorial.

“Our entire Veterans Funeral Care network is dedicated to serving veterans, and I am so proud of them all,” says Jim Rudolph, Veterans Funeral Care founder. “Over the past year, though, these two really stood out. I am so grateful to them for their dedication and obvious gratification in serving our nation's veterans.”
