AUSTIN, Texas – The International Order of the Golden Rule presented the Exemplary Service Award to Graham Funeral Home in Chesapeake, Virginia, at OGR’s 2017 Annual Conference and Supplier Showcase in New Orleans April 21. OGR’s Exemplary Service Award recognizes member firms for the outstanding customer service they provided to families during their time of loss.
Exemplary Service Awards recognize professional excellence as demonstrated through comments from client families served who respond to OGR’s Family Contact Program surveys. One family whom Graham Funeral Home helped shared the following:
At a time when I was devastated with the sudden loss of my mother, Terri at Graham Funeral Home stepped up and completely became a godsend. She was a tremendous blessing to me during the most horrible time of my life. My mother didn't want, nor did she like, funerals, so I didn't want a stuffy service. I was able to work with Graham Funeral Home to have a ceremony at a local arboretum that included music and items about Mom. I wanted a few items to be on display such as some photos and a bench in her honor. They embraced all of my wishes and made it all happen and look wonderful. I felt that they genuinely cared and wanted to do whatever I wanted during this time to honor Mom's wishes. Even months after Mom's funeral, I have called Graham Funeral Home and met with Terri. She continues to demonstrate the respect, friendship and helpfulness I saw during those first few days. In the end, everything that was done for Mom was exactly as I hoped and what she would have wanted. I will continue to recommend not only Graham Funeral Home, but Terri to everyone.
“The service that Graham Funeral Home provided is just one example of why they received an Exemplary Service Award. We are proud that our member firms practice the basis on which we were founded, The Golden Rule,” said OGR Immediate Past President Peter “Skip” Urban.
