Two Hearts Pet Loss Center Offers Pet Loss and Grief Certification Course

SOUTHLAKE, Texas — Two Hearts Pet Loss Center has announced the dates for the 2017 Pet Loss and Grief Companioning Certification courses. The three-day courses will be held on August 8 to 10, in Tampa, Florida, and September 28 to 30 in Indian Wells, California.

The courses are a “unique opportunity for caregivers who specialize in pet death care to gather, learn, and share their experiences as they cover a range of topics from supporting grieving pet parents to how pet loss services can be most effectively marketed in their communities,” according to a prepared release.

“Ironically, and perhaps the most telling confirmation of how powerful this course is, are the comments from attendees that convey the healing they personally received in acknowledging their own losses,” said course facilitator Coleen Ellis.

The course will cover the following topics:

• Understanding Pet Loss Companioning

• Understanding Anticipatory Grief

• The Six Central Needs of Mourning

• The Importance of Rituals

• The Benefits of a Pet Loss Support Group

• Children and Grief: Pets and Grief

• Compassion Fatigue and Self-Care

Ending the session will be a moving tribute to honor the pets of the attendees

The course meets the requirements for 15 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions which recognize AAVSB/RACE approval; however, participants should be aware that some boards have limitations on the number of hours accepted in certain categories and/or restrictions on certain methods of delivery of continuing education.

Members of the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care and the Pet Loss Professionals Alliance will receive registration discounts. For more information and to register, visit twoheartspetlosscenter.com/ or call 317-966-0096.
