WHEELING, Ill. – The Cremation Association of North America has announced the results of its recent board of director elections. During the 99th Annual Convention, Aug. 16-18, at the Grand Hyatt New York, CANA’s membership elected two new directors and retained two others. Several board members also advanced into new officer positions.
Robert Hunsaker and Donald Fritz Join the Leadership
Robert Hunsaker of Hunsaker Partners Group, and Donald Fritz, director of operations at Cremation Society of Illinois, were elected as new directors during the membership meeting Aug. 17. Vinnie Faccinto, senior vice president operations & business growth for Smart Cremation LLC, and Scott Hunter, owner and president of Gateway Pet Memorial Services Inc., were retained on the board.
CANA Board Officer Advancement
Michael Sheedy, market director for Service Corporation International (Canada) out of Ottawa, Ontario, is CANA’s new president. CANA’s president-elect is Mitch Rose, CEO and president of The Woodlawn Cemetery in New York. Elisa C. Krcilek of Mountain View Funeral Homes and Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona, is now the first vice president, while W. Scott Smith, president of All Texas Cremation in Plano, Texas, steps into the role of second vice president.
CANA Executive Director Barbara Kemmis is enthusiastic about the new administration. “CANA’s board of directors is passionate about its work and remarkably astute about the best avenues for investment of association resources. They understand the challenges and opportunities for the cremation industry in the current environment,” she said, adding, “These leaders are ready to tackle the development of programs, studies, and member benefits that will advance the association and the important services its members provide.”
